The short version: most of the range is ₹1,600–₹2,400. That is where an RC car stops being disposable and starts being worth keeping, and it is where we have chosen to build.
Under ₹1,000: what you are actually getting
At this price something has to give, and it is almost always the same four things.
Control. Steering becomes a switch — full left or full right, nothing in between — and the throttle is on or off. This is the single biggest difference in how a car feels to drive, and it is the first thing cut.
Spares. Sealed construction, no replacement parts. When a wheel or a shell breaks, the toy is finished. Most of what is sold under ₹1,000 is designed to be replaced, not repaired.
Battery. Small cells and short runs, often disposable AAs rather than a rechargeable pack.
Build. Thin, brittle plastic that cracks rather than flexes on the first hard impact.

₹1,000 to ₹2,000: the real entry point
This is where an RC car starts being worth keeping. Rechargeable lithium packs, LED lighting, 2.4GHz control at 100 m so several cars can run together, and replaceable parts.

The jump that matters here is proportional control. Bumble has it; most of what else sells at this price does not. If you are choosing on one specification, choose that one.
₹2,000 to ₹5,000: where the range is deepest
The drift line, the 1:64 collection, the construction models and the drone all sit here.
Drift — ₹2,099 to ₹2,399. Shadow and Flare 2.0 at ₹2,199 carry a 1200mAh pack, more than twice what the entry drift cars hold. Ghost at ₹2,099 uses a flexible PVC shell that springs back off a skirting board. Vortex at ₹2,399 is the presentation piece, with openable headlights. All have proportional throttle and steering, and both drift and grip tyres in the box.
Desktop 1:64 — ₹2,299. Mac and Nitro. Despite the size these are aimed at adults: desk companions at around 10 km/h.
Construction — ₹2,599. Rift the excavator and Rumble the dumptruck, 1:64, built as a pair.
Drone — ₹3,999. The Wisp. Under 250 g, so no DGCA registration, 6 to 8 minutes a charge.
Crawler — ₹4,599. Roxie, 1:20, 4WD. A different job from a fast truck: picking a line over obstacles at walking pace.
Hobby grade: what it means, and where ours starts
Hobby grade is a standard, not a price bracket. It means proportional throttle and steering, metal-shock suspension or straight axles, four-wheel drive, and a drivetrain built to be taken apart and serviced rather than replaced.
Four of our cars meet it. Roxie is the most affordable at ₹4,599 — a 1:20 4WD trail crawler on front and rear straight axles, built for climbing rather than speed. The other three are the high-speed 4x4s: Apex (1:18, ₹6,879), Doughty (1:16, ₹7,999, two brushed motors) and Gazer (1:14, ₹8,799, 340 × 245 × 130 mm and 1.7 kg). All three reach 40+ km/h and take two to three hours to charge.
If you are searching for hobby grade under ₹5,000, Roxie is the honest answer — and worth knowing that most listings at that price are toy-grade hardware using the label. Our 1:24 drift range at ₹2,099 to ₹2,399 is a genuine step above toy grade — proportional control, swappable tyres and full support — but it is semi hobby grade and we do not call it more than that.
Where the money actually goes
Three jumps do almost all the work. Everything else is styling.
1. ~₹1,700 — proportional control. Steering and throttle stop being switches. This changes how a car feels more than any other single upgrade.
2. ~₹2,100 — battery and body. 1200mAh packs instead of 500mAh, and shells chosen for how they fail: flexible PVC that springs back, or rigid ABS for crisper detail.
3. ~₹4,600 — suspension and drivetrain. Metal shocks or straight axles, real 4WD, and a car built to be serviced rather than replaced. This is where hobby grade starts.
